Honolulu Blues: Author Visit with Joel Walkowski

Fenton's Open Book will have books available for purchase and signing!In Honolulu Blues, Joel Walkowski intertwines his life story with the long, often painful history of the Detroit Lions. Growing up with his eccentric father, Banjo Bob, Joel finds a shared connection with him through their love of the team and its cycle of hope and disappointment.
Born into addiction, Joel's life takes him from childhood Adderall use to alcoholism, homelessness, and stand-up comedy. While caring for his dying father, Joel begins his journey to sobriety and learns that failing is different from never having been given a chance to succeed.
Walkowski is a nationally touring comedian and writer whose work has appeared in The New York Times and Comedy Central.
