Star Wars Reads Day 
Saturday, October 11, 1:30pm - 3:00pm
For all ages: adults, teens, kids. 
Drop in. No registration required.
Star Wars Reads Day is an international event that celebrates reading and Star Wars. It was first launched in 2012 by LucasFilms and its publishing partners. Join us on this day and may the Force be with you!
Enjoy the following during this drop-in event:
  • Crafts (while supplies last)
  • Prize drawings
  • Check out Star Wars books

Join us for lively discussion in a friendly environment. Pick up a copy of the book at the Adult Reference Desk about a month before the meeting date.

The NWS has an office in neighboring White Lake.  Learn about the NWS operations in SE Michigan, weather safety, and the SkyWarn Spotter Training program.

Our shores and lakes attract stories of legends and ghosts of lost ships. Lighthouses seem to attract many a story of paranormal activity. Come listen to stories and learn more about the lives of the lighthouse keepers.

So you want a dog?  Bill from the Detroit Bully Corps will teach you about finding the right dog for your lifestyle. This is a family-friendly program, but please do not bring your dog along.

Love anime? So do we!  Join us as we explore the latest and greatest anime.  Appropriate munchies will be served, so please register ahead of time.  Feel free to wear those fuzzy ears you love.

We've gotten pretty good at this craft. We'll supply all the materials, you supply the creativity to make a nifty (tiny) work of art.  Can they be made into magnets? Wearables?  We shall see!

Mon, Oct 20, 5:30pm
Pizza and a flick?  Ah, a duet of pleasures!  We'll be showing The Edge of Tomorrow this month. Please register if you would like pizza & pop!

Mon, October 27, 
5:30pm - 8:00pm
These are open gaming nights.  We've got tables a-plenty and participation is always free.  Also, snacks are to be had.  Open to ages 10+.  We currently have groups dropping in to play the following:
Pokemon TCG
Magic The Gathering TCG
GO (ancient board game)

Tues, October 28, 
Noon - 8:00pm
Open gaming!  We've got tables and terrain a-plenty, so bring your armies and your sleevies and get some Waaaaugh going!
Free free free, of course, and we also have some paints available for to pretty up your boyz.  Open to teens and adults.

The winner of this year's Michigan Reads is Kwame Alexander's Acoustic Rooster!  Join us for a reading of the story, then enjoy an instrument 'petting zoo' featuring the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra!

For ages 5 - 12.
We supply the LEGO, you bring your creativity! Your creations will be on display in the Youth Dept.

A drop-in playgroup for caregivers and preschool-aged children, 5 years and younger.  Librarians will highlight some of the resources available to help parents be their child's best teacher!  Interact with other adults while giving children an opportunity to play together.

Stop by the library to make a creepy spider!  Most appropriate for ages 5 - 12 years.
Friends Big Book & Bake Sale Weekend

Thurs, Oct 16
5pm - 7pm
Friends members only are allowed at this special 2-hour preview sale.
You may purchase a Friends membership at the door or at the Library anytime: $5 for individuals, $10 for families.

Fri, Oct 17
10am - 3pm
Come buy quality used books at a very reasonable price. We'll have the Community Room and the Lower Level Group Study Room open and filled with books for you to find and enjoy!
 
Sat, Oct 18
10am - 3pm
Join us for the final day of our Big Book Sale and a BAKE SALE! We'll have lots of goodies for you to find and enjoy.
