Preschool Open House
Are you looking for a preschool to send your child to next year? Stop in to our open house for a chance to talk with area preschool teachers and to learn more about their program. A great opportunity to compare preschools, to help you make that important decision.

Drop in or call the Youth Department for more information at 248-887-2218.

The Library will be closed on Monday, February 16 for Presidents Day.

Using Your iPad
Thursday, Feb 5
1:00pm OR
This course is designed help new owners with their iPads. Please bring your iPad, already registered and working, and your Apple ID. The course will cover the basic parts of the iPad, what a user sees on the screen, how to use hand gestures, and a few applications (aka apps!). You don't need any special computer background in order to take this class.
Registration is required.

Wed, Feb 11, 6:30pm
Join us for lively discussion in a friendly environment. Pick up a copy of the book at the Adult Reference Desk about a month before the meeting date. 
Our February title is
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. 

Computer Classes
Join us for small-group, hands-on introductory computer classes.  Very limited space - please register (or go on the wait list and we'll let you know if any space opens up).

Join us for a new-release movie, shown on our big screen after regular library hours!  Adults only, 18+, Light refreshments will be provided.  Movie selection TBD.  Please note that only the community room and restrooms will be open during the movie; the rest of the library will be closed and unavailable to the public. Entrance is available via the front doors; no admittance after 6:40pm.


Teen Programs
Mon, Feb 2, 5:30pm
Love anime? So do we!  Join us as we explore the latest and greatest anime.  Appropriate munchies will be served, so please register ahead of time.  Feel free to wear your favorite pair of fuzzy ears.

Mon, Feb 9,
6:00pm - 8:00pm
CubedHost is generously donating a Minecraft server for this drop-in event. We'll have (a limited number of) laptops and internet stations for you to use, or bring your own laptop.  You must have your own Minecraft account to participate.
Limited space! First come, first served!

Mon, Feb 23, 
5:30pm - 8:00pm
These are open gaming nights.  We've got tables a-plenty and participation is always free.  Also, snacks are to be had.  Open to ages 10+.  We currently have groups dropping in to play the following:
Pokemon TCG
Magic: The Gathering TCG
GO (ancient board game)

Tues, Feb 24, 
Noon - 8:00pm
Open gaming!  We've got tables and terrain a-plenty, so bring your armies and your sleevies and get some Waaaaugh going!
Free free free, of course, and we also have some paints available for to pretty up your boyz.  Open to teens and adults.

Drop in to make something for that special someone!

Bedtime storytime that introduces all the necessary pre-reading skills of talking, singing, reading, writing and playing in a simple format. Pajamas and stuffed animals are welcome.

For all ages.
stop in to play a game of chess with other young players.  Bring your own board and join the fun!

Meet with area preschool teachers to find the perfect program for your child. Parents, no need to register.

Thurs, February 12, 11:30am
For ages 8 - 12.
Bring your lunch and join other home-schooled students for a book adventure. We'll play a game and discuss a different book each month.  You can pick up each book at the Youth desk.

Thurs, Feb 12, 6pm
A family night of fun in the dark with science, crafts, sensory activities, stories and play. All ages are welcome. Please register.

Tues, February 17:
4:30pm - 6:00pm
All ages. 
In honor of the new Spongebob movie we will make a craft. Drop in any time between 4:30pm and 6:00pm.  No need to register.

Mon, Feb 23, 6:00pm
For ages 8 - 12.
Bring your dinner and join our book club!  This is a time to visit, get to know your mother/daughter better, and have fun with games and activities related to the book.  We will discuss Understood Betsy by Dorothy Canfield Fisher in January, and our February title will be available at that time. Books are also available at the Youth Desk.  Please register.


Consumer Reports Online is available anytime! 
Click through from our homepage at highlandlibrary.info, then find the Consumer Reports button on the right-hand side.  Enter your Highland Library card number and you'll gain access to articles and reviews for cars, appliances, electronics and more!

Books by the Bag
Homebound Delivery Service
Highland area residents who are unable to visit the library due to injury, illness, or disability are eligible for homebound delivery service. The service can be given on either a temporary or permanent basis. The Highland Library has many different types of materials for homebound patrons to check out, such as books, print books, magazines, DVDs and audiobooks. 

Delivery is provided by the Highland/Milford Senior Van Program, part of the Highland Activity Center (formerly the Senior Center).
