Seed Library

Welcome to our Seed Library: Grow, Share, and Cultivate Community

The Highland Seed Library is officially open for business!

Come and check out our restored vintage card catalog, now our SEED catalog, located in the Biographies section across from the Adult desk.
Seed Library Policy

Borrowing Seeds:

  • If it is your first time borrowing seeds this year, register at the adult reference desk by filling out a Membership Record form. This will include your personal Seed Borrowing Log on the reverse side. You will use this log to check out seeds for the year.
  • Browse our seed catalog and select your seed packets
  • Seeds are arranged alphabetically by common name. They will be divided by vegetables, herbs and flowers (annuals and perennials). Organic seeds are labeled and filed separately with the same categories.
  • To check out seeds, bring your selections to the adult reference desk.
  • Fill out your Seed Borrowing Log with today’s date, types of seeds taken, and number of packets.
  • We ask that you only take what you’ll use so that we will have enough for everyone. Staff reserve the right to limit the number of packets taken.
  • Limit of 5 packs a season for herbs and flowers. No limit on vegetables.
    • Winter: Dec-Feb
    • Spring: Mar-May
    • Summer: Jun-Aug
    • Fall: Sep-Nov
